Registration & Membership Categories

Travel Planners – in house

All travel planners holding the role of in house management of travel programs for their institution’s members and/or alumni/ae. Travel planners are full/part time professional staff and/or volunteers working within institutions such as, but not limited to, education, membership, development and/or alumni offices at museums, alumni/ae associations, adult continuing education programs, conservation organizations, zoos, cultural institutions and/or other nonprofit organizations.   The majority of travel planners contract directly with US tour operators/industry suppliers to operate tours/ to provide services for their travel programs and alumni(ae)/members. Commercial Tour Operators are not classified as Travel Planners.

By selecting this registration category you will complete an organizational profile designed to best showcase your travel program. Many of the questions as proprietary to travel planners are of value and access to travel planners only.

Contract Travel Planners – outsourced

Industry professionals that are employed by companies that work, on a contract basis, for one or many institutions and organizations to manage/oversee their travel programs. The majority of outsourced travel planners contract directly with US tour operators / industry suppliers to operate tours/ to provide services on behalf of their client institutions and organizations. Contract Travel Planners that operate their own tours are classified as Tour Operators – see description below.

USA Tour Operators

All USA companies that operate domestic and/or international educational group and FIT tours for nonprofit institutions and affinity travel organizations. USA tour operators operate under the legal status of a US based corporation or LLC.

By selecting this registration category you will complete an organizational profile designed to best showcase the services of a tour operator.

Foreign Tour Operators

All companies to include, but not limited to, non-USA-based tour operators, destination management companies and receptive agents that operate group tours and FITs. In lieu of the legal status of a US based corporation or LLC, foreign tour operators often have a US based representative or office.

By selecting this registration category you will complete an organizational profile designed to best showcase the services of a tour operator.

Destinations

All foreign, regional and city government tourist offices, as well as US domestic state, regional, convention and visitor associations, city- and community-based tourism promotion offices that market their destinations both in the US and internationally. Destinations do not sell tour services. They are in the business of education and providing travel planners and US tour operators with first hand knowledge of their destination, special events, resource books, tour marketing support and cutting edge itinerary ideas and special sites to visit.

Travel Suppliers

All companies that provide primary travel or travel-related services to the educational travel market such as, but not limited to, airlines, hotels, cruise lines, industry publications, site attractions, travel insurance, technology and marketing firms.
